Hi Carrie & Joelle, Thank you so much for a fantastic club season for both of my girls. This was by far their favorite. One of my daughters was on 14-2 team. She really helped her improve her serve. By doing so, she gained confidence on the court and because a more aggressive player at the net. It was awesome to watch her realize she could really hit and block as a middle. She enjoyed her teammates and is looking forward to next year.
I also wanted to let you know how much my older daughter enjoyed her season on the 16-1 team. HOLY COW they were SO MUCH FUN to watch. Her growth as an outside hitter was amazing. Her coach really helped her focus on her hit, approach, and accuracy. And while it was cool to see how well the girls worked together as a team. They were incredible. That is a testament to the girls, their families, and the coach. Thank you for providing this opportunity. It was a season we will cherish.
Hello! This was our first year with High Voltage/club volleyball and it was fantastic. Laurie Evans was an excellent coach, communicated well, and kept a good balance of skill development/competitive nature/and FUN! My daughter entered the season hesitant because she “loves basketball the most”, but left the season saying, “more volleyball please!” 🙂 She learned so much. Thank you High Voltage for a great season, we can’t wait for the fall!
This well-established club was started over 20 years ago. And works alongside Mayer Lutheran High School, known for their strong religious affiliation and faith based family. They have also become a premier location for some of the state’s top athletic teams. A volleyball club with a dual purpose.

Directors and Coaches: Carrie and Terry Maass are the co-directors of the club. Both spent years working and coaching within Club Tonka. Terry also has experience as the assistant head coach for Waconia and Benilde St. Margaret high school. Another well-known coach withing HVVC is Mayer Lutheran’s head coach, Joelle Grimsley. She coaches the 13’s team due to high school regulations. This is a great place for her to build her program teaching fundamentals.
17-1’s: They have nine teams this season with the majority being 14 and under. The 17-1’s team has the most competitive schedule. Emma Lade is the setter. The 5′-8″ sophomore was the leader in assists for Mayer Lutheran. In 2019 season alone, she had over 700 assists with a game high of 56 in their section loss to Waterville-Ellysian-Morristown. They also have the talented ML libero, Morgan Chmielewski. The 5’=9″, junior is one of the most sound passers in the state. She contributes a lot of assists and tough serves as well. Look for her to be the primary passer for the 17-1’s. It will be a good season building the skills of their younger players too: Stella Maass and Madeline Guetzkow were two of the three freshman on the high school varsity team. Having players on the same team for the club season gives them the edge over their competition. Yes, some of their biggest stars choose to go to larger programs, but the core group will be building chemistry all season long. The 17’s will be competing at Big City Luau this weekend in the 17’s Classic division.
Other tournaments for the club include Molten Cup, St. Bens, and President’s Day Smackdown. The specialty of this club is the development in young athletes.
